Before organizing a downhill race in Lithuania it's useful to check out neighbour's downhill courses, see how organizing of such an event looks like, hug an Estonian tree, taste some Estonian mud, feed Estonian mosquitos and have a swim in a pond with Estonian tadpoles.
Eight people and a dog in a camper. The journey started in early afternoon, before leaving the city we've made a stop at a shop, raised Lithuanian economy by buying too much food from our long list and happily drove farther. Reached the destination next day at 5 am. Despite having only a half of hour long sleep we thought that it's a good idea to check out the courses right away, probably for better sleep later. After a few more hours of sleep the training ride has begun. I wasn't riding, just taking pics, I don't have a downhill bike yet, not much to choose from here in Lithuania and prices are mad high.. Anyway, wasn't alone without a gear to ride, so it was still fun to wander around while chatting and looking for better angles. The only thing that messed up the weekend a bit was an injury that had put our fastest guy out of the race. Front wheel got washed out on a corner and rider ended up with a broken collarbone. Good thing that this guy is a G and a fighter so despite this serious injury we were able to stay there for one more day as planned.
Despite the fact that none of our riders got to the podium and that damn injury.. all of us had a wonderful time there and waiting for something like that next year!
